Fantastic Weekend for Notts boys at Pipers Vale Challenge

Categories // Men's artistic

11th - 13th May 2018

On Friday 11th May our U8, U12 and U16 boys kicked off the weekend in Ipswich at the annual Pipers Vale Challenge.
This was the very first national competition for our U8’s including Tom Dingley, Oliver Bamford, Charlie White, Olly Fletcher, Callum Sellers, Danny Collett and Sonny-John Breffitt who all competed very well in what was a great experience for them. Huge congratulations to all of the boys and a special mention to Tom Dingley with an impressive 15th place AA finish and 4th place on floor, and Oliver Bamford with 18th AA finish. Harry Norman competed in the U16 category in what was his first ever competition competing on the full high bar and pommel horse. Harry competed with confidence on all 6 pieces, with a fantastic performance on parallel bars earning him a bronze medal! Congratulations Harry! Well done to Oscar Sampson, Kaydon Kennedy and Jack who competed in the U12 category. Special mention to Kaydon for competing his Tsukahara vault for the first time!
Saturday morning began with the U9 competition with Phoenix Frost, Jude Irons and Jack Tomlinson. This was also Jack’s first ever national competition and he did himself and his coach proud with a great performance which will give him confidence going into the national competitions later in the year. Despite an uncharacteristic fall on pommel first piece, Phoenix finished strong with a solid AA performance achieving 19th AA and powerful vault with a solid landing earned him the bronze medal! Jude produced a brilliant AA performance and finished an impressive 7th place AA. A stunning parallel bar routine earned him 1st place and the gold medal! Congratulations Jude!
The U10’s then followed up in style. In a strong field of 62 competitors Lucas Bowen finished in 2nd place after a fantastic AA performance claiming the silver medal! Following closely behind was Zakaine Fawzi-Mccaffrey who achieved an impressive 3rd place AA. As well as his AA bronze, Zakaine achieved 2nd place on Pommel, Parallel Bars and High Bar! Congratulations to Marty Jackson who achieved an 8th place AA finish with a confident performance. An incredible Tsukahara vault secured him 1st place and the gold medal! A brilliant Parallel Bar routine from Alfie Heard secured 3rd place and the bronze medal on top of a strong 17th AA finish. Well done to Callum Haywood and Noah Farnsworth for their performances and Judah-David Kofi who competed well in his first national competition.
Sunday saw Kian Keogh and Bailey Yates compete in the U12 and U14 Cup competitions. As was the case with Harry, this was the first time Kian competed on the full high bar and pommel horse. Kian competed with confidence across all 6 pieces and also competed a Tsukahara for the first time. Despite an inconsistent warm up Kian stuck the Tsukahara! Well done Kian! Bailey also competed with confidence and showed great maturity throughout the competition. Bailey demonstrated some great work and achieved 15th place AA.
Huge congratulations to all of the boys and their coaches!

Communication from the Board - GFA Organisational Changes

Categories // Gymnastics For All, Men's artistic, Women's artistic

We are writing to inform you that Jack Duggan will be leaving NGA and as a result share with you some organisational changes.

We would like to take a moment first though to thank Jack for his creative ideas & hard work since joining us. He has successfully helped us to grow our GFA disciplineenabling access to the sport for many new participants as well as launching our in-house GFA competition and tireless work behind the scenes. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

We have been working to recruit for a new Head of Gymnastics For All and we are delighted to announce that Fern Ravnkilde has been successfully appointed to the position. Many of you will already know Fern from her great work as Assistant  Head and we are confident that she will transition naturally into her new role.

In the coming weeks we will therefore be  seeking a new Assistant Head, but in the meantime we are pleased to be continuing to add to our growing talent of GFA coaches, with the arrival of Laurence Bow and Susannah Watts. Laurence and Susannah join us with a wealth of experiences and we would like to formally welcome them both to NGA.

Our GFA discipline will continue operating as usual and whilst gymnastsmain coaches are the first port of call for any communication, Fern can now be contacted as the Head of GFA, should parents need to liaise with her.
