Development Elite girls compete at county champs

Categories // Women's artistic

Development Elite competed in the Nottinghamshire County Championships, In Age Level 5, on Sunday 2nd July, with some fantastic results. We are incredibly proud of the girls.

Congratulations to Diaz Hector, who came 2nd all around, and to Cadie Munday who finished 3rd all around. Superstars!

New skills were competed by many of the group, and their confidence showed. The girls have been working hard on neatening up and this was reflected in the results. Placings on individual apparatus are as follows:

Diaz Hector and Cadie Munday, joint 2nd

Naomi Williams, 2nd

Cadie Munday, 3rd

Diaz Hector, 2nd

Naomi Williams, 3rd

Diaz Hector and Cadie Munday, joint 2nd

There were lots of achievements to be proud of. Katie was determined to show the coaches she compete her handspring to stand which she did - with a lovely landing. Lily had a clean beam routine with beautiful straight legs in her leaps and walkover, Sofia performed a very elegant floor, and Erin made us all proud by competing her straddle undershoot. As always the girls supported each other and were a great team. Go DE!

Elite girls compete at Nottinghamshire County Championships

Categories // Women's artistic

10 of our Elite gymnasts took part in the Nottinghamshire County Championships on Sunday 2nd July. Some gymnasts competed a new skill for the first time and others used it as an opportunity to compete for the first time after returning from injury. All the girls had a very enjoyable competition. Beatrice competed a new 1 1/2 twist in her floor routine and took the overall title. Geneva competed an elegant floor routine and upgraded all of her routines with two swing 1/2s on bars, full twist on floor and a yurchenko entry vault. This was Zadie’s competition debut for 2017 as she has been recovering from a knee injury, she won the overall level 2 title with clean routines. Isabella Willocks was a delight to watch with confident routines proving that she is ready for upgrades at her next competition, she won the all around challenge title. Jasmine competed a double twist for the first time on floor. Summer entertained the judges on floor with her trademark bubbly choreography and also competed a straight yurchenko for the first time. Ramiyah won the overall Espoir title after 4 solid clean performances, including an impressive full twisting yurchenko showing just how much she is maturing into a confident performer. Isla eased her way back into competition with an elegant beam routine. Christine competed all 4 pieces which are now consolidated and ready for upgrades over the next few months. Scarlett had a nice neat, clean competition. Well done to all the girls.

 Competition:Regional Open Age Club Team

Date: 11th June 2017
Venue: New College, Leicester

The Notts Junior team was Olivia Coventry, Jemimah Ingham-Jones, Amy Harper, Katie Watson, Niamh Lehane & Lori Prentice.

Despite being against gymnasts, many who were two years older and a level higher the Notts gymnasts performed well to finish 5th in an extremely competitive competition.

Many of the girls were competing new skill for the first time away from the gym, this proved successful with composed performances resulting in just 4 falls, this willl undoubtedly give them confidence with the County Champs and Malta all taking place in the next month.

Well Done to everyone.

Communication from the Board - GFA Organisational Changes

Categories // Gymnastics For All, Men's artistic, Women's artistic

We are writing to inform you that Jack Duggan will be leaving NGA and as a result share with you some organisational changes.

We would like to take a moment first though to thank Jack for his creative ideas & hard work since joining us. He has successfully helped us to grow our GFA disciplineenabling access to the sport for many new participants as well as launching our in-house GFA competition and tireless work behind the scenes. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

We have been working to recruit for a new Head of Gymnastics For All and we are delighted to announce that Fern Ravnkilde has been successfully appointed to the position. Many of you will already know Fern from her great work as Assistant  Head and we are confident that she will transition naturally into her new role.

In the coming weeks we will therefore be  seeking a new Assistant Head, but in the meantime we are pleased to be continuing to add to our growing talent of GFA coaches, with the arrival of Laurence Bow and Susannah Watts. Laurence and Susannah join us with a wealth of experiences and we would like to formally welcome them both to NGA.

Our GFA discipline will continue operating as usual and whilst gymnastsmain coaches are the first port of call for any communication, Fern can now be contacted as the Head of GFA, should parents need to liaise with her.
